Apple is notoriously known for their updates causing numerous problems. Whether it be the inability to access your device and having to connect it to a computer to factory restore it, or perhaps it's the more common issue of experiencing data loss when updating your iOS. No matter what the reason for it is, it's an incredibly stressful and annoying experience to go through. If you've already experienced data loss, then you'll already understand the importance of backing up your device's data. With that in mind, today we are going to focus in on how you are able to restore iPhone 7 Plus from iCloud backup when you experience data loss.
The first method that we are going to take a look at today is an option which while it isn't one I recommend, is one which is available to everyone with an iPhone 7 Plus.
Step #1 – Take your iPhone 7 Plus, and direct yourself to the Settings menu.
Step #2 – From the settings menu, head over to the “General” option, followed by selecting the “Reset” option.
Step #3 – Next, tap on the “Erase All Content and Settings” option, which will then completely erase your iPhone.
Step #4 – Upon your iPhone relaunching, you will be prompted with the first time setup screen.
It's important that if your iPhone isn't already connected to Wi-Fi at this point, you make sure that it is.
Step #5 – When you get to the “Apps & Data” step of the setup screen, tap on the “Restore from iCloud Backup” option.
Step #6 – From here, you will be prompted to sign into your iCloud account and will be able to choose the backup that you'd like to restore to your iPhone out of the backups which you have taken with iCloud.
Step #7 – Lastly, the backup will be downloaded from iCloud to your iPhone 7 Plus and depending on how big the backup is, the download and restoration process may take some time. Once the restoration is complete, you're done.
This method is available to all Apple device users and works regardless of the device that you have, although an issue that is found with iPhones is that an unstable connection can cause the process to be problematic. On that note, let's take a look at the other method which is available.
Unlike the above method, this method will require a little more attention but will allow for you to be more confident due to the lack of failure. With this method, you must have the “iSkysoft iPhone Data Recovery” program and luckily, there is a paid version available although there is a free version to accompany it. So without further ado, let's jump right in.
Step #1 – First of all, get yourself a copy of the iSkysoft iPhone Data Recovery program, download it, install it, and launch it.
Step #2 – If you don't already have your iPhone 7 Plus connected to your computer, go ahead and connect it using the lightning cable now.
Step #3 – Once you have the program open and ready to go, select the “Recover from iCloud backup file” from the left panel.
Step #4 – After selecting this option, you will be prompted to sign into your iCloud account.
Note: Step #3 is required for this process to continue so if you are unwilling to fulfil it, then you cannot use this method. However, it is assumed that the program itself will not gather any data regarding your account information as you are logging into iCloud directly.
Step #5 – After logging into your iCloud account you will be shown all of the backups which you have previously taken using the free iCloud service. Select the backup that you'd like to have restored to your device, and click on the “Download” button.
Step #6 – It may take a few minutes for the backup to be downloaded and for the data to be extracted from the backup file itself, although once it has done so you will be shown all of the data that has been restored.
Step #7 – From the menu which is displayed, you are able to guide yourself through the different types of data using the panel on the left and are able to select the data that you'd like to be recovered to either your computer, or the connected device.
Step #8 – Once you have selected the data that you'd like to have restored, simply go ahead and click on the “Recover” button at the bottom right of the program, and you're ready to go.
As you can see, while there's a little more work put into this one you are able to selectively backup data rather than restoring all of the data from a backup. This is a very useful tool as if you accidentally deleted a photo that you had taken or a text message which was important, you would be able to use this method to only restore that piece of data rather than restore everything.
While we focused in on how you can use the iSkysoft iPhone Data Recovery program to restore iPhone 7 Plus from iCloud backup, the program itself has a lot more to offer. Some of the other features that are within this program are:
So with that in mind, I feel like using this program is without a doubt the best option available when you are working to restore iPhone 7 Plus from iCloud backup.
